Frozen Margarita
Recipe by Ed Kernan
A little sugar and spice plus the salt on the rim makes these really tasty, so please enjoy responsibly! To kick up the spice even more, first blend a few slices of jalapeno with the tequila and then add in the rest of the ingredients.

What You'll Need
Ingredients
For glass rim:
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (we recommend Espelette)
- Zest of one lime
- Lime wedges to garnish
For drinks:
- 4 ounces blanco tequila *Or: Sub tequila for equal parts non-alcoholic tequila
- ½ cup freshly-squeezed lime juice
- 2 ounces cointreau *Or: Sub cointreau with 2 ounces of fresh orange juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 2 cups ice
Directions
Step 1
Place drinking glasses in the freezer.
Step 2
Mix together salt, sugar, and chili powder in a small bowl. Add in zest, using your fingers to crush the zest with the mixture. (This will release more lime flavor.) Set aside.
Step 3
Place all drink ingredients in the 750mL vessel. Pulse the power on and off to start to break up the ice. Then blend on low till slushy.
Step 4
Remove glasses from the freezer. Wet the edge of the rim with a lime wedge and then dip the glass in the spiced sugar and salt mixture.
Step 5
Pour blended drink in glass, then garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy.
